1. What is BoltByte?
A. BoltByte is a durable, reusable, patented (2006) memory tool used to keep track of hardware. It is useful on the assembly line, the maintenance line, and everywhere in between.
2. What will BoltByte do for my company?
A. BoltByte will help keep track of hardware, thus preventing FOD, due to lost or missing hardware. It will eliminate the need for plastic bags, trays, and cardboard. Why pay employees to punch holes in cardboard when they could be working on aircraft?
3. What is FOD?
A. FOD is Foreign Object Damage and is responsible for between two and four billion dollars in damage and lost time each year. Lost tools, dropped hardware, and even bird strikes cause it. No system will prevent all FOD damage, but when the BoltByte system is used properly, it will prevent damage caused by lost hardware.
4. What is the cost?
A. Cost will vary. Some factors that apply are: number of holes needed in the board; amount/detail of graphics for the board; is the pattern for the artwork/graphics able to be emailed/mailed; and size of order. It can be as simple or as detailed as you would like.
5. How long do they last?
A. As with all things, it depends on usage. BoltByte Tools are designed to be reused hundreds of times, have a one-year warranty, and are recyclable. It should also be noted that there are products in shops that have lasted over five years of daily usage.
6. Can you paint hardware in the boards?
A. BoltByte is an excellent tool to assist in painting. Place the bolts into the board, paint, and they are held securely until dry. You can hang the boards after painting, and the bolts won’t fall out or tip over and stick together. You can even bake the hardware right in the board, as long as you don’t go over 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Try doing that with cardboard.
